Word Snax is a blog about words that are “hidden in plain sight” – words that most college-educated people encounter at least once in a while. On this site you will find short commentaries on relatively familiar words such as engorge, galvanize, and wrought. These commentaries will highlight interesting, little-known facts about these more-or-less everyday words.
Sometimes this blog will simply highlight a surprising etymology; sometimes it will explain technical terms (such as fiduciary or life expectancy) that most of us half-understand; and sometimes it will give recommendations on the correct usage of particular words.
