How can you trust Word Snax?

Is the Snackmeister just making this stuff up? No, he isn’t. Every claim about etymology made on this site is checked against at least two sources:

Webster’s Third New International Dictionary, Unabridged
The Oxford English Dictionary (accessed through the Chicago Public Library)

Other resources that are used as needed:

Charlton T. Lewis, Charles Short, A Latin Dictionary (accessed through the Perseus Digital Library)

Le Trésor de la Langue Française Informatisé (the French equivalent of the OED)

Encyclopedia Britannica

Citations and links to sources can be found in comments attached to some posts.
